SOG Seal Pup Elite lacking as a defensive blade?

I've been looking for a medium sized fixed blade for a MOLLE rig I'm putting together (the blade would be mainly for utility, but with a secondary defensive role). I really like the Seal Pup Elite, however, my only doubt is the jimping that runs practically the entire length of the blade. Wouldn't that hinder penetration quite a bit? Nobody I've heard from has had a problem with it, but I'd still like some wisdom from you gentlemen.

I don't think it would at all. If you are that concerned get the non-elite with no jimping.

I don't know how much killing they do with them but ex-SEAL Rorke Denver went on record at SHOT this year as saying he like the SEAL Pup he was issued in the Navy.
