I found the above knife on a site for $40 plus shipping. I've always wanted a Sog, and after using my Becker BK2 on a recent camping trip, I knew I wanted another, but smaller fixed blade, so for the price, I figured I couldn't go wrong.
There was no picture of the sheath on the website, it only stated that it was a "kydex" sheath. When I pulled the knife out of the box I was surprised to see a cordura type nylon. The kydex must be the rigid insert. Not an issue at all as this sheath has an exterior pocket suitable for a small sharpening stone, mag fire starter, or other small items. The sheath screams "tactical" w/its militaristic mounting system on the reverse. It has the same type of loops and snaps as the entrenching tool pouch I recently purchased from the surplus store.
As for the knife itself, it is smaller than I'd expected. I know I stated that I wanted a knife smaller than the BK2, I just didn't realize how much smaller it was. The handle is a hard plastic w/diamond like ridges and seems to have a great grip. It is very hard and I wonder how comfortable it would be during extended use. While the handle on the BK2 is also hard plastic, its smoothness seems to soften the feel up quite a bit.
I didn't really test the sharpness, but it seemed decent out of the box. I'm no pro at sharpening, but the blade is sharp enough for now.
Seems like a nice knife, especially for the price. I look forward to getting out there w/it and carving something up!
