Just purchased a Pup Elite...haven't gotten it yet though.

My question is if it can handle the pommel being used for hammering/ pounding? To me this is a very important feature of a survival knife. You gotta be able to abuse it and it can take it.

I noticed the Sog Seal 2000/Team knife, has an extended tang on it to use as a hammer. Why ever did they not make that in the Elite Pup???

Anyway, can the Sog Seal Pup Elite take the pounding in a survival woods situation?

The regular SEAL Pup can take quite a beating so I'd have to assume that the SEAL Pup Elite can take just as much.

I've gone ahead and bought it. Since then I made the handles bright orange. Now I'm happy!:D

Its full tang but Im guessing its still gonna ruin the handle if its used and abused.
I have to agree why they didnt put a pommel in?
I have the SOG elite but now I always look at a pommel on future purchases.

If you need to use your poor knife as a hammer, it may or may not break depending on the circumstances. There are no absolutes re-guarding such things.

I bought one of these to give as a gift. It seem like a solid piece that could take some abuse. however, I'd use a hammer for stuff that requires a hammer.
