I need an expert opinion. I bought a SOG Seal Pup from Bass Pro Shops last summer and threw it in a drawer. I pulled it out for the first time this weekend and noticed something very odd. It is stamped "SOG SEALPup" on the left side of the blade so it should be a SEAL Pup, obviously. However, it has some different features from my other SEAL Pup. I went to SOG's website and found it has the "newly designed longer ergonomic handle with deeper finger grooves" which is only available on the SEALPup Elite and, more importantly, it has the "racy new blade shape with longer cutting edge" which is only available on the Elite. It does not, however, have the Elite's spine rasp. It also came with the Kydex sheath which I believe (not sure on this) only came with the Elite. How can it have the Elite attributes and a regular label? Do I have an Elite stamped as a regular SEAL Pup or do I have a regular SEAL Pup with an extended cutting surface and fancy handle? This is an excellent Kayak Knife. It is very lightweight and very corrosion resistant.
