SOG SEAL Pup or SEAL Pup Elite

I need an expert opinion. I bought a SOG Seal Pup from Bass Pro Shops last summer and threw it in a drawer. I pulled it out for the first time this weekend and noticed something very odd. It is stamped "SOG SEALPup" on the left side of the blade so it should be a SEAL Pup, obviously. However, it has some different features from my other SEAL Pup. I went to SOG's website and found it has the "newly designed longer ergonomic handle with deeper finger grooves" which is only available on the SEALPup Elite and, more importantly, it has the "racy new blade shape with longer cutting edge" which is only available on the Elite. It does not, however, have the Elite's spine rasp. It also came with the Kydex sheath which I believe (not sure on this) only came with the Elite. How can it have the Elite attributes and a regular label? Do I have an Elite stamped as a regular SEAL Pup or do I have a regular SEAL Pup with an extended cutting surface and fancy handle? This is an excellent Kayak Knife. It is very lightweight and very corrosion resistant.

I don't see what your talking about. When I go under fixed blades and click on SEAL Pup I see my old knife. When I click on SEAL Pup Elite, I see my new knife with the exception of the stamp. It is very easy to see the difference in usable blade length if you toggle back and forth between the two. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Bump - Anyone know about this? I am going to to try to sell it, but don't know how to list it or even explain it for that matter.

I think it was late 2009 when SOG updated their original SEAL Pup design to more closely match that of the Elite. There are Youtube videos regarding the change (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuTG9Cg_aTw&feature=player_embedded#at=12).
I'm not sure of the steel type but would assume it's still Aus-6 rather than the Elite's Aus-8. Also, the pup was available with either Kydex or nylon sheath from SOG, but what stores carried may have varied. The SEAL Pups stocked at Madison's Dicks Sporting Goods are the new model, looks just like an Elite except the spine rasp...

My bad. Sogs web site is not up to date. SOG updated the Seal Pup to have a Seal Pup Elite handle with the finger grooves
and blade shape with a bit less of the ricasso (the area between where the handle starts and the edge of the blade begins). Also no rasp on the back of the blade. It appears that Sog also eliminated the powder coated blade like on the old Seal Pups in favor of the satin or black coated blades with the exception of the tiger stripe pattern. Hope that helps.
