just became to new owner of an sog seal pup. i was passing by house of knives and couldnt resist. it was on special. it comes with the new tactical sheath from sog. the front pouch is perfect for the small oregon whet stone which i carry with me. havent really had a chance to test it well but will be taking it up hiking this weekend so i will update then. with some pictures and what not. but so far its awesome!

please post your experiences with sog knives specifically the seal pup.

also i noticed the fusion series at house of knives as well. they had the jungle fusion knife and that thing was a monster.

I've had my seal pup for about a year and a half now and it has stood up to everything I can dish out. I've even had the weight of my Jeep CJ5 on top of it in a roll over offroad, when I got my jeep flipped back over i took a look at my knife and to my relief it was perfectly fine. I usually take it rappelling with me and on SAR (search and rescue) missions. A very nice dependable knife

Ive had mine for awhile now....but I regret to say that I haven't even used it. Seems like one hell of a sturdy knife though.

haha holy crap you've had a jeep cj5 roll over it.... wow... anyone out there know how rust resistant the seal pup is? salt-water and coast line is the environment that i mainly deal with.

and as for the picture of the jungle fusion. heres the link to the pic on sogknives.com. and a slight correction. its called Jungle Primitive from the SOG Fusion series =)

the majority of the SOG fusion series seems to be made of 420 stainless... O_O

can anyone back SOG's 420 stainless knives? cause i know buck knives are pretty good with their 420 stainless but i've never seen SOG use it until now...

The seal pup from what I have read has outlasted a two week salt water emersion test, and as for the other test all i know is it is supposed to have a very strong tip breaking point.

awesome thanks for the info musashi. i'll be sure to give her a beating over the weekend. =)

I own lots of SOG knives. They are top notch, but I held off on the Seal Pup because it was made in Taiwan. Nothing against Taiwan, but I'd rather have one made in USA. Correct me if I am wrong please.

I hope your wrong it would be disapointing.
I have the seal pup elite Its very nice and strong. Used it to gut 3 fish this past caping trip.

I will try to check into it so I can back up my statement. Several times I have bought really nice knives only to find out they were made in Taiwan. Maybe I am digging too much into this, but it does bother me a little bit. Bottom line is if you erased the tiny word Taiwan from the blade I would never know the difference. Do I have time to worry about that kind of stuff? Americans still make money off it, and the quality is good. I won't buy a knife made in China no matter how good it is.

well the seal pup that i have says "seki-japan" on it... no where on it can i find the words taiwan.. lol

Hey Guys...

Just had a look at the new Fusion series from SOG....

Let me first say that I have a respect for SOG knives. I own many of them and use several of them when hunting, outdoors and such...

I don't really care too much for the Jungle Primitive, just not my kind of knife. Looks too much like a Junglee....

The Battle Axe wouldn't be too bad if the water jet SOG wasn't cut out of the blade...That just makes it too Gawdy for me..

However,, the Tomahawk, Throwing Knives and the Micron look pretty cool and are priced right for what you are getting...

i dunno... i have lots of questions about the sog fusion series....

its just not... ME.... they're a bit... eh....

well... looking through the specs i dont think i'd carry the knife itself for any long period of time... perhaps use it as a movie prop or put it on display.

cheers^^
