I have an original Seal Pup with the nylon sheath. What steel is used in this model? Is it 440A or AUS-6A? Anyone know? Thanks! :)

As far as I know the SEAL Pup has always been made out of AUS6. Story goes that SOG Marketing advertised the SOGs with AUS6 as 440A some years ago because most people knew what 440A was but didn't know about the Japanise AUS6. If you do a search I'm sure you can find the origenal thread on it.:)

Hope that helps,

Heber

Thanks for the info Wildmanh. :)

No problem, glad I could help. I just hope that your SEAL Pup is getting used instead of being a safe queen. Cause I'd hate to see a nice SOG get neglected like that. :p he he he

It sharpens up much easier than other blades that I have in 440A. So I began to wonder about this steel until a couple of years ago when SOG began advertising the steel as being AUS-6A. Oh yeah. Don't worry about the SEAL PUP not being used. I have dozens of knives but I'm not a "knife collector". ;)
