Saving for a large fixed blade. Want one mainly for a camp knife. I really like the seal team look but I need to know it can stand up to a beating. I have some concerns with the serrations holding up to batoning. Not trying to split logs, just wood for kindling (3 inches and under) because I'm not always a great shot with an axe. So what's the roughest you've handled your seal teams? Tell me about em.

I've considered the Bk7, but I really think the blade shape of the Seal is classy. Plus I'm a SOG guy, just not sure about serrations and the spine taper for hard use.

You're right, the SOG is a great looking blade !! As for use, I wouldn't worry about it at all. SOG's are made to be used. I have several fixed blade SOG's and all have had plenty of use in the field, never a problem.

Cheers,

Carl

I don't think durability would be any kind of problem - I have my eye on a Seal Team as well.

The only issue I can think of regarding use as a camp knife is that the blades are usually part serrated, and those hollow ground top swedges are not the best for hardcore wood processing, but for general use it should prove excellent.

Also there is a video on YouTube of someone doing some SERIOUS batoning with a seal pup elite, through like 3 knots and it held up fine. So I'm not worried about the tip :)

Have you had a look at the Force. It is switching to straight edge in the next 30 days and is more suited to chores like batoning than the SEAL Team. It is going to be my go to backpacking knife this year.

If the force were an inch longer I'd be all over it Chris. I have an NWR that would serve as a backup already at 5 inches, spending around $100 on a knife I'd like to try and get the 7 that the SEAL Team offers.

Make a Force XL and I'll be set :)

This might be asking a bit much, but is there any way you could snag a side by side of the NWR, Force, and SEAL Team??

Sure does :)

Time will tell on my decision I guess, the Force is a beast but I can't shake my love for the SEAL design. Gonna be one or the other in the end. Unless of course you should put out a plain edge seal team *wink wink*

Thanks for the input Chris

Thanks for the picture Chris. I never noticed before that the Seal Team and Force have the same handle.

On another forum one of the Mods asked which new knives of theirs were people interested in? I know that those are now this year new, but I'd love to have one of each please. LOL!!

I have the seal team. Good ol knife, sharp. The only thing is that due to being 16 I have thrown it on occasion, and the tip bends a bit. Nothing serious, but I dont throw it any more. Im planning on getting one of those plain edge force knives.
