Hi. I just got SOG Seal XR, love the desingn, love the materials (especialy non coated blade and olive darb handle), but it has a nasty hotspor on the pomel when closing the knife it diggs hard into my palm.

So I grounded it off, now it is perfect, no hotspots at all.

But my question is can I somehow "force patina" on this shiny part to match black color without painting it. Tried cold bluing liquid for guns, not working at all. Stainless steel.

Could try some wet coffee grinds.. Let it sit in it for a day and add water as it dries out since it will have to be pretty thin layer of coffee unless you want.schmaltz on your handle too...Works perfectly on carbon steel.. Nice and black patina...

I'd be pretty surprised if that works on stainless. But I'll have to try it on my carbon knife since I'm a bit of a coffee addict.

It worked well on an O1 steel blade I have...Don't have pics handy or I'd post em!!.....Figured may as well tell him and see how it works.......Nothing to lose except some coffee.........I'd use fresh ground d's though not already brewed....Stronger that way!!!!

Found em

The tip in first pic came out great! That was a double dip... I just tried doing a little first time to see how I liked it.
Only problem was it fell over when I wasn't paying attention!

Paint it with black fingernail polish. You can “blue” stainless steel but the materials used are expensive.
