Saw that these were on sale on the SOG site the other day for $240, so I grabbed one.

Initial impressions...

-Built like a tank. If you dug those old battleship ZTs, then this will defo be up your alley.
-Sharp af out-of-the-box
-Ergonomics are perfect for my med-sized hand. Bigger hands will have a field day w/ these.
-Action may not be to everyone's liking though, as it requires a STRONG finger to get the thing to flip in battery. The cross-bar release is the single best I've ever encountered on a folding knife though. Very, very smooth. That, and the blade literally wants to spring back into the liners when activated. Never seen a folder act like that. Almost as if there's a reverse spring in place to auto close the knife on release.

Can't really say much else about the knife right now, as I just got it this morning. But, if it holds up under use at work, I'll probably buy another one if they come out w/ either a tanto of spearpoint version.

On mine i took it apart filed and polished where the inside of the blade cut out meets the lock bar theres too much curve in there and it wraps too much around that lock bar, thats why its hard to flip open mine is normal now that i did that trick to it...

Good specs, could be the beginning of a return to form for SOG.

It's just too bad it looks like it came straight out of a truck stop gas station.

LMFAO!

After about a half hour of random fidget flipping the knife froze shut on me. Was flipping fine, then the next flip felt really rough. I closed the knife and attempted to manually actuate the flipper tab, and it wouldn't budge. I then tried to actuate the flipper again with both hands, and I was able to move it, but after that I gave up and called SOG and told them I got a lemon and that I was sending it make to them to make lemonade out of.

This is supposed to be an American made knife made from a premium steel. I've never in my life experienced such a failure before. I called their customer service number and had to hash out the return w/ some guy in India.

Suffice to say that I will never again in my life buy another SOG product.

It would be interesting to see what went wrong inside there : spring or something with bad HT ?

But yeah , I'd just get my money back ASAP !

This was supposed to be one of their showcase products . Gain back some lost reputation for quality .

I don't believe GSM actually manufactures anything , so wonder who actually makes these in the USA ?

Youtuber Neeves Knives had mentioned Hogue as the outsourcer. If so, shame on them.

Just a friendly heads up to anyone considering purchasing anything from SOG...

Fed Ex has confirmed that my return was delivered back to SOG in Tx on 02/18. Not having received my refund, I called them today and was told it will take 14 days for the refund to be processed.

And to think, SOG Knives used to stand for something other than complete and utter material incompetence.

Make sure you are purchasing this knife from a reputable SOG dealer. This knife already has a fake clone made outside the USA. They are as low as $45. But some of the fakes are sold at the $200+ rate.
