SOG Sheath Question

I was just wondering if this sheath sold by SOG can be simply mounted on to a belt around the waste. I know it's capable of a bunch of fancy things such as MOLLE type mounting, but I don't need to do anything like that. I just need something simple.
I was also wondering if this sheath can be mounted horizontally along a belt around the waist, so that the sheath could be located in the small of my back.

yep can be mounted to a plain old belt via the loops . its a great sheath , beats the hell outta the kydex one. it can`t be mounted horizontally.

While it says sheaths aren't covered, if Chris@SOG shows up and decides differently, then it would be.

On that note, I've never once heard of a leather SOG sheath breaking, even after a lot of use. They might get dinged, scuffed, and scratched, but they don't break. Even the snaps on "old school" SOG sheaths stay "snappy" even after years of use.

Bring back SOG leather, even if only as a separate purchase option!!
 
I pulled the knife out of the sheath and it practically split in two. THink I still got bits of the sheath somewhere
 
That is, IMHO, a far better sheath than the Kydex. I have one for my Seal Pup Elite. But there are trade-offs. I don't like the Kydex for all of the reasons you can find. The nylon SOG sheath is more suited to my liking. However, it can be very difficult to remove the knife from the nylon sheath with one hand.

I'd like to see SOG make a nylon sheath similar to the one that came with my Ontario Spec Plus...secure, can be carried a number of different ways, and yet you can still get the blade out, one handed, very easy and quickly.

I've looked into a custom sheath, but for that kind of $$, I can get another Elite!

But as far as the Kydex vs. nylon, go for the nylon.

Perhaps Chris can get SOG to offer a second variant of the nylon sheath (without the flap)?
 
I can't make any judgment calls on the warrantyness (just made up that word) of this. The best thing to do if you have question about a possible warranty claim is to contact the warranty department. They can be reached at 888-405-6433 x229, 425-771-6230 x229 or via email at warranty@sogknives.com. What you can also do is email images of the sheath and provide a description of what the problem is and they will take it from there. They do a good job to be fair and are usually more liberal than our warranty policy.

As for the nylon sheath with out the flap, you can just cut if off. We thought about this while designing the sheath and it was designed in such a way that this can be easily done. Once you trim off the flap just be sure to fuse the ends of the cut edge.

Now Maverick wants a free SEAL Pup, too! (kidding!):D

I'd love to know how he snapped the tip off a SEAL Pup. That's a pretty sturdy little knife.

If he'd snapped a Pentagon, I'd already have a pretty good idea how it happened. ;)

I dropped it on the the concrete tiles in back garden. Does not matter anyway.

So no point in sending the sheath...

The sheath that came with my Tigerstriped Seal Pup Elite which I bought this year is Kydex !
 
I have the seal pup elite nylon sheath and sometimes I fold the flap backward behind the sheath and hook it...that way I can get to the knife a little easier without dealing with the flap.
 
I would not mind but that Seal Pup was only dropped from about 3 foot. Must have landed badly I guess. Oh well nevermind :(

It was my last SOG.. not available in the UK at a decent price

But if you wanna send that Sheath to Big Ocean then thats cool :)
