SOG Slim Jim

Out of curiosity, do you have an updated ship time? Both SOG and Bladecenter (the only site I can find listing the slimjim for pre order) are still showing as unavailable.
 
The first ones will be in the next two weeks. I'm not sure if they are all sold or not but I'm that they will all be gone before we get the next batch completed.
 
just picked up the smaller model and bought the XL on Ebay which should arrive soon. Really a nice light carrying blade. One major design flaw is that the safety is lose on all copies that I've seen at my local gun store, enabling it to engage at will when you don't expect it. This interferes with confident deployment of the blade, especially when removing from the pocket, as pulling it out slides the safety on. Surprise, surprise - your blade won't snap out because the safety's on. I adjusted the tension with a pair of pliers, crimping it a little tighter and now most of the time it stays put where I want it. However, with this flaw on the Slimjim and the issues I've had earlier with some of the all plastic bodied assisted openers from SOG wherein there is so much flex in the handle that a few pounds of pressure defeats the lock, closing it on one's fingers, I can't say that I'm a big SOG believer. Honestly, I'd trust a Benchmade or Cold Steel folder much more in a stressful situation. So, for light EDC work, I have no real issues with the SlimJim, but I wouldn't count on it in emergency circumstances. More R&D before marketing guys....
