SOG Spec-elite I or Visionary II ?

Hey all!
So, with my birthday coming up I've been looking around for another knife as an alternative to my BM 940 osborne, which, due to it's value i don't wish to carry all the time.

I've admired the Spec-elite for quite some time, and am leaning towards it at the moment, however earlier today i spotted the visionary which has caught my eye.

they both have a very similar blade shape/length, the difference in my eye is the handle, and the fact that the visionary is coated (something i'm not partial to).

what do you think?

what attracts me to the spec elite is the sleek handle, blade shape, and vg10. Mostly though, i like the arc-lock which is akin to the BM axis lock, which i love.

I'd appreciate your opinions, or perhaps alternate suggestions! thanks!
 
I have a visionary 2 and a pentagon elite (same handle as spec elite), and I prefer the handle of the visionary it seems to fit in my hand better. Just my opinion, but I'm sure you won't be disappointed with either.
 
Well sir, I have a SOG Spec-elite I and its as smooth as silk,opening and closing.
I have a lot of Bencmades, Spyderco's and others,but this is one Knife that sees its share of pocket time. For me its a keeper :thumbup:
 
I have both of these knives! The Visionary 2 rides more discreetly in the pocket, but the Spec Elite 1 has a stronger pocket clip (held by 3 screws). Also, the black paint tends to chip off of the pocket clip on the Visionary. The Spec Elite has a more comfortable handle, it is a little thicker so it fills one's hand a bit more. While both blades have basically the same shape, the Spec Elite's blade is a hair longer. Both knives are very smooth to open and close, they are actually smoother than the axis lock Benchmades I have. Overall, I have to give the edge to the Spec Elite 1.

I figure i've got plenty of discreet blades... and the spec elite looks pretty cool!
I think i'll go for the spec elite, from amazon.
 
Good choice. I traded off my spec elite1 and regret it. It was the smoothest opening knife I ever owned and held a good edge too.
 
thanks guys. i'm actually waiting on amazon's price to go back down. they had it at 72.20 when i made this thread, and now it's at $78
