Just picked one of these up this morning and so far really like it. The fit/finish, action, and lockup all appear to be first rate. Although I'm not a fan of zytel it is not all that bad in this particular application. The Spec Elite has full stainless steel liners that are imbeded within the handles and help to give them some rigidity, although a spacer or two midways down the handle would also help in that department. I do not like the clip location as it allows too much of the handle to stick out of your pocket, about 1 1/2". I have already taken care of that by rigging a foldover clip to cut down on the amount of handle sticking out to 1/4", and now will be able to carry it much more inconspiciously. The best part of the knife and what drew me in the first place is the 5" clip pointed blade. I had a Pentagon Elite II, but could never come to carry it or use it due to the blade shape. The Spec Elite though will be another story as it's blade will be much more usable. I think I have the VG 10 blade, if the box color is indeed indicative. As it is the blade edge came razor sharp and will be a great slicer, even if it is on the thick side at .160" thick. All in all I really like this knife and look forward to using it and also to August when SOG releases the Fatcat, which will be about as big as this one, but built much heavier.
