Here's a comparison that seems obvious, but I havent heard it made here. Anyone have both and can comment about the two? For the sake of "all else being equal" I would assume comparisons between the 4" blade Spec Elite.

Having onwed both, still own both, the clear winner is the BM. Its fit finish and ergos are much better, however not enough to justify the cost difference. The SOG is a fine specimin and is undoublty the smoothest production knife I've ever had, and I had a lot and have handled 1000's more through my job. The BM uses better steel D2 which takes a keen edge and keeps it forever while the older SOG's used 440C the newer ones use VG10. The BM has a better stronger clip place is a much more user frieldly location. I've bent the clip on my SOG more than a few times as its prone to snagging and is rather soft, also its mounted is such a way that it leaves quite a bit of knife sticking out of the pocket. The locks imo are equal in performance and strength. Both have a slight recurecve blade. The BM carries nices looks nicer and feels nicer. If you have the extra $ buy BM if not the SOG is a fine substitiute. You can't go wrong with either one.
