Is the 4 inch version worth 100$? I have a sog flash 2 but it has a lot of blade play problems and doesn't feel very sturdy. Is this better or would I just be wasting my money?

you would have to find a store and try one for yourself. But I have handled a flash 1, a trident folder and a pentagon elite 2. The pentagon had a much tighter and stiffer lockup than the spring assist knives. It is up to you if 100$ is good value to you, but I would pick one up for that price.

I don't have any shops around me so I decided to just give it a shot.

I got it and I have to say. It's going right back here it came and it will be my last sog purchase, even their 100$ knife still has up and down blade play and that's totally unacceptable

This Spec Elite was another knife I was looking at. I don't own any Sogs but have often considered one. Being that these are vg-10 I would take it that they are Japanese made, correct?

I owned a Sog Spec Elite II. It was a great knife with a good blade design, good steel and smooth as butter action. All that being said, I sold it. The knife really never grew on me.

I like the vg10 I have had and thought it might be a good Sog to try out. Thanks for your imput.

I really like my Pentagon Elite II. Different blade, same handle and lock. I've also played with the Spec Elites, good knives. The Spec Elite is a more utilitarian version.

In case you didn't know, the Pentagon Elite and Spec Elite series are based off of the Pentagon fixed blade series. If I remember correctly, the PE's were designed as folding versions of the Pentagons.

With most knives, the decision is very personal. Checking it out in a store before you purchase might be a good idea. If you like it, get one, if not, get something else. :)

Thanks. Yep checking one out in person is always a good choice. But like so many other knives no one around here carries them.
