Sevedral have commented that the tip of the Tech bowies and Bowie 2 is thin and somewhat delicate. Is that also true of the tip of the super bowie? Is it thin and delicate or more thick and robust?

It's thicker that it looks. The hollow grinds create a diamond cross-section at the tip that allow the pointier profile while maintaining a good thickness. It's still not the same a flat-ground drop point, but I don't get the impression that it's weak or fragile at all. Then again, I don't get that impression with my Tech bowie, either! I prefer having a point that is usefull, and I don't pry with the tip of my knives. I also don't throw my knives. However, I do baton and drill, and I don't feel I need to be extra careful with my Sogs-they are plenty tough enough.

I'd put the tips of these bowie style knives at tougher than a ka-bar, not as tough as a Rat-7, if that's more helpful:)

I dropped my tech on concrete and it stabbed a whole in the floor. Three passes on the fine diamond stone took the burr off.

I have used/carried that knife every day for 6 months and it has been reliable every time I used it, and even when I dropped it.

The Super Bowie is almost 6.5 Oz heavier than the tech, and its tip is pretty stout, it chops good enough but I prefer a 9-10" blade at that weight.

The Tiger Shark model has a 9"blade and 18 Oz it really is a tough knife and the tip is "robust" for a hollow ground blade. If you can find one.
