I'd like to know if I can disable/remove the spring in my Sog Tac Auto.

I want to ship it to a friend in Singapore - but I don't want him to have the knife confiscated by customs for any reason.
So ... I thought if the firing spring was disabled, there would be no problem.

Any thoughts out there?

I'm sure you can but theres only one way to find out...

I wish I could have one of the auto's....

Anyway, if you take it apart and remove the spring you should be fine.

I've taken my aegis and flash apart enough times to know what to do but the autos are probably a totally different design.

If/when you do take it apart make sure the blade is out to help release some of the spring tension. Otherwise once you crack it open you'll have a spring or 2 fly across the room.

The spring in mine broke after 2 years of use and I ended up taking mine apart. Nothing holds the pivot pin in place when you try to loosen the screw. Give it a good tap with a mallet and it should loosen up the loctite. I had a pretty hard time getting mine out. Spring comes right out as soon as the screw comes out.
