i was at basspro today and noticed they were selling sog team leaders in aus8. purchased it, i have several duratech 20v sog leaders, i believe they make great fighting knives, the aus 8 was half the cost and is almost identical to the 20v sog, except the flat grind goes past the blade choil closer to the handle and have stainless grip screws. theyre made in taiwan and the sheath is super crapy nylon with velcro snap, but will fit in ur custom kydex for the duratech models. with a 5 inch razor sharp full flat grind, with needle point tip, and light wieght, its a formidable fighter.

I have the 20CV version and really like it. I did see an AUS-8 model in a shop after I bought mine and was impressed with it. It was very sharp out of the box and was really similar to the Duratech one in almost every respect, except price and blade steel. They're getting harder and harder to find new. It's one of my favorite fixed blades and a great hunting knife, too.

I'm kind of regretting not getting one after I saw them at Bass Pro. They kind of remind me of a big honkin' 'tactical' version of the old grohmann model 1. Slap some nice exotic wooden scales on it and give it a mirror polish or convex grind and it would be a real looker imho.

As to whether it's a good fighting knife, I'll leave that to people who actually fight with knives. ;)
