I have had a Tech Bowie (Satin) for a while now and really like the knife, but must admit I have not used it (more of a show & tell / wall hanger). But it I had to buy a second just in case I used one! Just a few days ago I picked up a Supper Bowie - Wow  .

Tech Bowie / Super Bowie Specs
Steel: AUS 8
Thickness: 0.24" / 0.25" (Super is about 1/32" thicker than the Tech)
Blade Length: 6.4" / 7.5"
Overall Length: 11" / 12.875"

I DO LOVE THAT SATIN TECH BOWIE! :D

Great knives but I doubt I will ever really use them. I was curious if anyone has given a Tech or Super Bowie a run for its money and how it faired? The knife does not seem to practical for outdoor camping chores, probably leaning more towards a Tactical knife.

I have never seen a Seal 2000 in person. But with the 7" Blade Length, AUS 6 steel, & a Zytel handle amd an MSRP $162.00 compared to the Satin Tech Bowie of $155.00 (I did not pay that much of course!), I would still choose a Tech Bowie to beat up!

No, no, as I said, I would never pay that much! That is the full MSRP off of the SOG website. I paid $85.00 for my Satin Tech Bowie with shipping.

oh ok now i get it . tech bowie sounds cheap enough to use to me.

I agree as well, but over the year I have collected other toys that I have been using and have not found a good use for my Tech Bowie.

My TOPS Armageddon and Becker Brute have been a lot of fun on camping trips! :D Then for a smaller, cutter I have been using a Helle Brakar. I like the lack of an upper gaurd so that you can choke up and put your thumb on the spine for better control.

Thanks, I will look into the "northwest ranger". I had been eyeing a Fallkniven S1 Forest Knife for the same reason

But I was still curious if anyone has ever given a Tech Bowie or Super Bowie a work out and what they though of it.

By the way, the KA-BAR Eagle Sheath is a perfect fit for the Tech Bowie! I do like Survival Sheaths. I did remove one of the straps though, the Eagles have two button straps to hold the handle, IMO you only need one!

I have a SOG Super Bowie in-bound, got lucky on ebay the other day on a low pay Super Bowie-ay which made my day in a Superlative kinda way.

Will do some testing and such, and some highly subjective comparisons with the Tigershark and SEAL 2000 and other SOG fixed blades in the knife box.

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. KnifeFury, one of my favorite SOG uses is as Tactical Tableware. The Super Bowie will make quite the conversation piece dinner knife for a large steak.

Just sure you wash off whatever anti-rust compound you're using, first. Unless you like Christmas ham/ turkey/ steak that tastes like Mil-Tech or Breakfree.:p

Try sesame seed oil, IIRC it's one of the lightest natural oils, resistant to rancidity, etc.

...and whatever you do, don't listen to the Bushido types who tell you to use clove oil. It smells and tastes like, uh, cloves. *urg*

Finally got myself a Tech Bowie for Christmas, had to give it to myself, but that's the fun of being single! I have the tini covered one. I had gotten the Tech Bowie to be a step up from my Kabar's, and was thinking the TB would be an extra large knife, it isn't. It has a slim build to it but is built with extra thick materials, blade is .240" thick, and is not as hand filling as the Kabars I had. And it is these virtues that I like very much:thumbup: It feels well balanced in the hand and the tip points where you want it too. The facted point is like a needle and with the extra steel behind it should prove quite strong. All in all I really do like the Tech Bowie and now I'm thinking about getting a Trident II, with the satin finish and black micarta grip.:D

I had to buy 2 of the Tech Bowies in the Satin Finish. Great knives! I am glad you like it!

Note that I have had a few Ka-Bars and the Eagle Sheath that came with my D2 Extreme is a perfect fit for the Tech Bowie! I had to order a spare Eagle Sheath for this reason! :D

Good looking knife. Now I'll just have to get one of the satin Tech's! Like the Eagle sheath.
