I just sold a SOG Tigershark at a popular auction site (for a total of 103.62) and the buyer of my knife has contacted me and said that even though I said it had a Kraton handle it in fact has a Zytel handle and IF he had known that he would not have bought the knife. When I posted my knife I got all of my info from SOG's own site and wrongly assumed that most anyone that bought the knife would be familiar with it and it's handle...I certainly did not set out to mislead anyone.

Could anyone here please tell me if SOG's website is in fact wrong about the handle material ? http://sogknives.com/store/S5.html

I bought my SOG SEAL 2000, Tigershark and SEAL PUP all the same year, they're all made in Seki-Japan and they all appear to me to use the same type of handle material.

It sounds as if the guy is going to keep the knife but I hate the fact that someone feels that I gave them the wrong info when I went to the manufacturers website to get said info and to make matters worse I had much better offers to switch my action to "Buy Now" within the first 24 hours but since I posted it as a 5 day auction I wanted to leave it as that.

Any clarification on the handle material would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hehe.. You should have sold it to that cheap skate in Miami who offered you 100$;o)... I know the S5 is NOT real old but who knows with sog... I think that guy is wrong..

I few days ago I found a site called sogoutlet.com and they had SOG S5 tigersharks for 129$(they were 179$ or something).. Well now there website is down, but u can still view the ad if you google " sogoutlet tigershark S5 " , then look for the sogoutlet link, then CLICK on VIEW CACHE.... I copied the link for you but dont know if it will work..

Did you really offer me $100 for the S5? LOL

That auction was so odd in that I had several people email me and they were making offers for the Tigershark if I would switch it to "Buy Now" but I'm kinda new there and felt like I should stick to their rules. I had two knives up for auction and I did have one offer to buy both but the offer was for a lot less than they both sold both for. I actually had a bid of $130 something with a few minutes to go but the high bidder retracted his bid and I think that he ran off some of the others and the winner ended up with I think a pretty good deal....the knife is in great shape.

I just didn't like the idea of someone thinking that I gave them false information about the knife plus he said he wouldn't have bought it if he knew it wasn't Kraton. I'm more of a folder guy, the website says Kraton so I assumed they would know but mistakes happen all the time. Either way I think that he got a decent deal and hopefully he'll be happy with the knife.

Thanks for the info on the website, I'll have to checkout the SOGoutlet.

The S5 Tigershark handle is a bit more rubbery feeling than my SEAL 2000 or the SEAL Pup.....the SOG website says that the Tech Bowie S10p and S10P (I have both) has a Kraton handle as well and both of those knives have a MUCH softer handle than the Tigershark but maybe they can make the Kraton as dense/firm as they like....not sure.

I was just a bit surprised that someone would say that "I thought it was Kraton but its Zytel and if I knew that I wouldn't have bought it." Maybe Kraton has advantages over Zytel that I am unaware of...which is very possible. The guy is being very cool about it now that I sent him a like to SOG's website. The only fixed blade handle I've ever had an issue is the one on my Cold Steel Recon Scout being too soft and showing wear very quickly.
Take care.

i dont know..... oh well i need to find a minty midnight tigershark!!!

KLJTech, as far as I know all of the Tigersharks have Kraton handles and Zytel was never used on them. Personally I think the guy is either trying to get something for free (cheat you) or is very miss informed.

Tell the guy I will give him 100$ for it shipped;O) seriously

The buyer seemed to be "okay" with his purchase after I sent him the link to SOG's website that said it's a Kraton handle plus he said/admitted that he got it at a very good price. I did tell him if he was unhappy I would give him the contact info of those that offered me a good bit more than he paid for it. "As far as I know" he's happy with the knife now.

SUE HIM for being a DICK!!.. I thought since we are both in Florida u would hook a brotha up;o) I am not going let that go you should have sold it to me , than pay FEEBAY those FEES!! ;o).. LOL! .. Just givin u a hard time!! Take care!

LOL...you're killin' me.

The problem was I ended up with 3 or 4 different people offering me a lot more than the Tigershark ended up selling for but only via email. The high bid was just over $130 during the last hour and some bidders started dropping out and with about a couple minutes left the high bidder retracted his bid so the winner got the knife for about $30 less than it appeared that it would be selling for.

I just wanted some of the guys that were emailing me to place a bid, they would have won if they actually bid what they were offering and being new to the site I wasn't sure as the Seller how I was suppose to take down the auction and sell it on the side. Plus I didn't want to try and sidestep the rules and miss up my standing with said website. Luckily the other knife I had for sale sold for enough that I did okay.

Were you the guy that was offering me $200 for the Bravo 1 AND the Tigershark? They ended up selling for $280.....which isn't great by any means but neither knife was seeing any use so it was worth it.
Take care.

Hehehe.. I cannot disclose that info;o).. If u must know i am the idiot ;o) who withdrew my BID at the last minute on ur tigersharp account .. Reason I did was a few minutes before ur auction was over I found that website called sogoutlet.com.,. On that site theyy had a BRANDNEW SOG S5 tigershark just like yours for 127. I was like shit i will buy that!!! Anyways I called the next day and they are out of stock!! So i screwed myself not buying your knife andi screw u too.. We all got screwed because i tought i could get a brandnew one for 127..

sogoutlet center sucks and the guy who answers the phone appear could not car about anything vintage.

This is the reason why you have to find out information on the knife. Most online shops like to put information on discontinued knives on their website as a means of drawing customer traffic. Very rarely do they have stock. Be careful of knife sites that have all the discontinued SOG knives on their site - most likely they don't have any in stock.
