why do people say its 440a? its aus6 , ffs , we all know this.
Over the years, it's been advertised in marketing material (both print and internet) both ways. People get confused. Silly them...if only they were as smart as us! ;)

yeh that would have started before people knew what AUS 6 even was. These were seki japan made hence made from jap AUS6 as far as I know.

I think the point he was making is that its not SK5.
Hmmmm...I thought that all of the older (non-serrations) Tigersharks were SK5 steel...

Interesting offering. Six months ago it would be gone already by me. But I have two tigersharks now and really don't want to spend the money for another one. Thanks for posting it as I had not seen it on ebay.

Hi all from a newbie,

Actually this eBay ad was a mistake. I bought it and what they sent was a new one with the combo edge. They said they IT guy messed up and put the wrong thing up. I'm still trying to find an older plain one in case anyone knows of one I can buy. Thanks.

welcome to the froum mate . too bad about that tigershark , but i`m sure its still a good knife.

Thanks Sirgalant. And I am already watching that one on eBay. We'll see how high it goes.

the Tigershark noted above by Bubba is still being bid....

but there was another one: the winner scored it for $52 !!! i'm crying in my soup, I couldn't watch the bidding and lost out on the chance ......

Cheers,

Carl

Just picked this latest one up from eBay and it's in great shape. Thanks for pointing me to it.

Yes, I finally managed to win one. I am extremely happy. (I saw the listing for that one that went for $52.00 and it was is pretty rough shape. Don't feel too bad for missing it). Not only does this one not have the combo edge, it doesn't have the blade coating either. The steel is in great shape just like the handle. Looks like it was kept in a drawer somewhere. The only problem I can see is a tiny bad place on the tip where it looks like it was stuck in something that dinked the point a little. I believe I can fix that with a stone. (BTW I actually went home to Tennessee this weekend and was able to go by the seller's store and pick it up. They were very nice to deal with. I don't know if you're supposed to mention names here so just e-mail if you want to know the seller.)

Thanks again to everyone for pointing me to this one.

Mark

I also have a (pair) of Tigersharks...One plain, one serrated...Both coated.

Excellent knives...
