FYI.
double-check this of course, but I'm thinking this is an older carbon steel Tigershark.

That is for sure, SirGalant. It's at $119 and has 18 hours left on the auction. I wonder what my Midnite Tiger might go for?.....nawww! Just kidding of course. Good luck to the highest bidder on the SK-5 on Ebay. He is going to need it the way that auction is going.

These are difficult to find now. I didn't have the funds when they were new but now I do I want one. It's a good japanese steel IIRC comparable to W2, a spring steel. Tough as all get out, good edges etc, I'm surprised there's already not more action on this. No way it can go this low IMHO. Good luck everybody. Joe L.

Last one that I was aware of on ebay sold for under $100. That was a bargain. This one appears to be headed to a price that is slightly higher than the current Tigershark. I think it's worth more, but that is how the auctions go.

I'm not bidding. Got mine.

it ended up going for $124. wouldn`t mind a tigershark , but if i were to buy one it would be stainless steel

G'day mate,
Well, if you were looking for a stainless Tigershark, you missed my Ebay auction for my like new, never used S5 which sold for a lot less than $124 US. Now the dude who bought it will not pay me and I have to auction it again. What a hassle! Anyway, here is an opportunity for some lucky guy to own a nice knife at a bargain. Beware Ebayers selling items to buyers with less than 5 sales. I will not do it again unless the guy pays immediately via PayPal! Live and learn. My SK-5 Midnite Tiger makes up for the pain.
Best regards,
Denny

the Mastiff , congratulations on your new knife mate! 300wsm , if you were gonna have a buy it now price , how much would it be roughly?

Hey congrats Mastiff. Nice piece of hardware. Your gain is his loss eh. New in the box! Plain edge! SK5!

G'day,
I was going to just run it without any Buy It Now to see what I could get but the last auction was $81 plus shipping. I would sell it right now for that and skip the auction.

Congrats to those that snagged SK-5 Tigersharks, I love mine!! It would be cool to have a AUS-6 Tigershark also. You can never have to many good knives. ;) But alas, no money to buy knives right now.

300WSM, good luck selling your AUS-6 Shark.

Heber

Mastiff,

Congratulations !!

I was giving it the serious eyeball and decided at the last minute to let it slide..... I'm glad you snagged it !! Great Price, too, for a great item of SOG history.

Let us know how you like it, and your impressions of the SK-5 steel.

Cheers,

Carl

Joe,
Glad that you snagged your SK-5 at what looks like a good price for an old stock new condition knife. When I wrote my original post it looked like the auction might go through the roof but you stayed the course. You never know on Ebay.

Speaking of Ebay...I ran an auction for a S5 AUS6 Tigershark and after three weeks the dude finally sent me a money order for full payment! Like I said, on Ebay you never know! Once again, congatulations Joe.

oh well never mind one day i`ll get one

SirGalant, I'm old enough to easily rember when these were made. I always wanted one but could never afford one. When they changed to 440A ( really 6A the whole time, they just thought the consumer wouldn't want it if it was called Aus6A) I was brokenhearted. I just don't like large, heavy duty bowies in stainless. I thought I'd never get one.

Here it is how many years later and I'm in my 40's and finally I get a chance at the knife I couldn't afford back then. I was determined to not let this go and would have gone higher.

This is only my second use of ebay. The first was a BG42 SOG folder ( another one that got away from me as no store around here carried them when they were out ( before I had a computer)

I still don't have it yet, and will let you all know when it comes what kind of shape it's in.

Anyhow, the moral of my story is never give up on something you really want. Even if it takes years. With technology nowadays there's no reason it should now :')

BTW, thanks for the words guys. This forum has some of the best people in it. I mostly lurk but I'll tell you not many forums are filled with respectfull, polite and decent people helpfull with each other. This is the way it should be. Joe L.
