SOG Tomcat 3.0 question

Hey,
I'm thinking of ordering the SOG Tomcat 3.0 and had a few questions.
Because I live in Canada, shipping knives in from the US is sometimes sketchy business, trying to get a knife through customs.

I was basically just wondering if the the Tomcat could be flicked open the same way the the 'elite' series of knives can, by releasing the lock and flicking the blade open, then just as easily flipping it closed.

Can the blade also just be flicked open without manipulating the lock?
It seems almost possible to me because the blade is quite large and would therefore be quite heavy, and would carry a lot of momentum.

Finally, I should state that I will be ordering it brand new, so maybe out of the box the action will be just stiff enough to not be flickable?
I'm just guessing, so if anyone with experience with this knife could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated! :D

You can definitely flick the knife open just like the Elite series. It does have the same locking mechanism as the Elites do. Although, we did work with Canadian customs on this and our assisted knives and they have ruled the knives as okay to import. If you want I can email you a copy of it for your reference. Just PM me and I'll get a copy emailed to you.

Try putting a single drop of gun oil on the pivot pin and compression surface of the knife and you will find that it opens like a switchblade. The Tomcat has a particularly nice sounding snap when it opens and a solid, secure feel when the blade is locked. I also recommend a light coat of gun oil on the blade for storage. While the blade material consisting of VG10 stainless is excellent for resisting rust, it is not perfect.

Don't wonder, don't pursue it, please. Casual use of insulting terms is perhaps short of bigotry, but it comes close to the line. Let's just drop it and hope it doesn't happen again.

When you order it, you could ask the company to tighten the screw so that it wont easily open and then once you adjust it, you can get it to your liking.

That's a good idea, but not to worry, I already ordered it some time ago.
You can read my thread and see some pics of it here.
