Looking for a heavy duty folder for edc, i don't mind the belt carry.
Wondering if the arc lock is as good as the old tomcat/sogwinders lock back.

+1 for recon 1. there is not a lock stronger on the market if you're looking for pure strength. I'm not too fond of the new sogs really. I've owned a flash 2 and a trident....good bit of blade play. NONE on the recon

dude, youve got 3 threads on the front page about the SOG tomcat, next time try to roll all your questions into one thread, they all will get answered

I'll save you time and money, dont buy it, lots of better knives at lower costs. Recon 1 is a great alternative

Why do I get the feeling someone is gonna blast you for being honest and stating something logical?

I'd go Recon 1 (or American Law Man) The triad lock is great, and (in general) the Sog folders just sort of blow. YMMV

Cold Steel folder's are probably your best bet if you want a heavy duty tool with a sensible price tag. Recon 1, Voyager, American Lawman, etc. Whichever you like best. I'm becoming quite fond of the Voyagers, great beaters for under $40, with nice flat ground blades.

IMHO, SOG folders are not very good. I've had a few with blade play issues (assisted openers). At about $180-200, I think the Tomcat III is overpriced for what you get, and you can do much better in that price range.
