I bought a knife back in 1998 and stuck it in a drawer. Lately I have taken it out and have been trying to figure out whether it is a Tomcat or Sogwinder. The blade looks like the Sogwinder but measures 3.75" and the handle looks like a Tomcat. The overall length is 8.5". If anyone could help me out if would be greatly appreciated.

The overall dimensions do not match a sogwinder. Sogwinder blade is only 2.75". The knife I have is 3.75" blade. The blade is a drop point and LOOKS like the sogwinder design but longer and the handle looks exactly like a Tomcat at 4.5" long. It also came with ambidexturous thumbstuds that appear to be brass and are screwed together instead of having a phillips head screw holding them together.

yeah i know.....the sogwinder II that i have is much larger than the model I, and looks just like a tomcat II except for the blade....same specs you listed.....i also have the sogwinder I and can tell the difference between the two

Funny thing, I stumbled across this knife -

It looks just like you said, I was thinking the same thing whne I saw it - blade like sogwinder, handle like Tomcat2. So it looks like it is not a intentional mix of tomcat and sogwinder, but it's actually a copy of sogwinder II like NAB says (which I wasn't aware of).

The knife pictured above has been made for many years. I remember when they first came out......I would guess it's been about ten years or more.

I carried a Tomcat for years while in the Marines, I misplaced it as a civvie 5-6 years ago. It was a heavy folder but durable, decent blade. The only problem I had was the rubber came off both sides (at different times) and I just epoxied them back into place, no problem after that.
