I own mostly SOG fixed blades and as such dont know alot about the folders. I ran accross a wood handled SOG in a gunshop the other day that looked like a Tomcat but I was not sure. The price on it was about 90 dollars. I was going to pick it up but wanted to ask here first, it doesnt look like its going anywhere. It seemed to be the older Tomcat. Would that be a good price? It was a lockback and didnt appear to have a clip. Any comments would be appreciated.

I had a rubber handled Tomcat in the early 90's (which I lost somewhere near Bridgeport, California) that cost me around $90. Never saw a wood handled one, though.

I know that SOG did make the at least the first generation Tomcat with a cocobolo handle scales. The first generation Tomcat also didn't have a thumbstud, unlike the two newer generations.

I would suggest picking it up. Those are nice knives and hard to find any more. $90 sounds like a good price for it. The current one has a MSRP of $200.

Let us know if you get it and what you think of it.

Ok sounds like it would be wise to buy, I will pick it up next week if its there. Unfortunatley its out of the way, but my job brings me by there often.

I had one of those with the cocobolo handles and it was mighty nice. I also put a "One-Armed Bandit" on the blade, and used a Dremel tool to shape it and ended up with a very nice, and very heavy duty knife! $90.00 would be a great price.

I can drive there and pick it up for you:D

Good luck on grabbing that one:thumbup:
