Has anyone used the new SOG trident knife yet? is the locking mechanism works as advertised by SOG? is it balanced in the hand? is it sharp enough to cut meat, slice paper at an angle? I need info on this new knife from everyone please. I want to buy it however I need more input from users.

I've had a TF-3 for about a week. I really like it!

On balance--the knife is very light. Zytel handle seems nearly weightless compared to one with steel liners and G10 scales. Blade tapers pretty quickly from the pivot and is not as heavy (or presumably strong) as my Spyderco Endura or Elishewitz Stryker which maintain full 0.125" thickness to near the point

On sharpness--Unreal. This is the sharpest out of the box knife I've seen, rivaled only by other SOGs. I've used the knife for packages, envelopes, coffee-bean vacuum pack, and some sundry chores and it seems to perform well here... no brush clearing, wood splitting, or combat yet. The groove really does work--not pure gimmick.

On lockup--quite secure. The locking bolt is similar the SOG's Flash II, but has a pivoting actuatator that gives the user a little more leverage to make release seem easier.

Handle length and thickness are a little on the large side for EDC if you want/need to be discrete.

'Hope this helps.

Blade magazine just did a review of this one and it performed great! The only downside is that the notch cut out of the handle doesn't work as idealy as it should.
Great edge retention even on harder tests (made easy work of the 2x4) 3/4in manilla rope was cut, like, 30 times before starting to slide at all.
Heated properly to survive a flex test on a brass rod without any negative effects...
It seems to be a great buy.

I've been playing with the action on mine, very tight, feels a little too tight. I like it, the blade is super sharp, and for buying it used off of eBay, I really like it. Haven't had the chance to field test it, too bulky for non sheath carry.
