Hi guys! Newbie here. Got a question for ya. I just started into the knife collection groove and have picked up a few new blades. One of the new ones is a SOG Trident because I have heard so much about them. I have two concerns the first being the ARC lock, when the blade is open is the button supposed to be a little loose? The blade seems locked tight but the button seems to have some movement back and forth a wee bit. The other how does the pocket clip work for you guys? I am not liken it too much. Thanks for any advice.

The button was a little loose for me as well. I was never crazy about the clip either. Not a bad knife, unfortunately I lost mine some time ago.

I hated my Trident. The Blade had too much up/down, side/side play in it, and the pocket clip looked kinda cheap. I blame R.Lee Ermey :D
Needless to say that I trades it less than a week of owning it. The looks are great, not sure if the design is the fault of the blade being loose or just bad craftsmanship on SOGs part.

Yeah, I aint real impressed with it either it may be making a return trip to seller.

I played with the pivot until I got rid of the play. Once I got it just right it was a nice little knife

Ive held it at the store, there is so much blade blay, im not surprised the arc lock moves. I actually liked the clip, it had Great retention on my pocket, and im usually a fan of lowrider clips. dont know about its durability with so much of it being cut out. I know people have had breakage issues with the skeletonized vulcan lowrider clip.

The trident is one of my favourite folder designs.
At least in theory.
The handle is a bit too sharp at the edges, the cutting notch on the back of the handle is just plain pointless, apparently i broke the clip clean off on this one somehow, it seems to not deploy so well with the pivot tightened and i can make the lock fail simply by pushing the spine against the edge of my table.

My old-ish desert model has a seemingly unique coating on the blade, it's like glittering gold anodizing or something. Very nice.

The SOG Trident Tanto was one of my first forays into higher quality knives than the POS no-name Chinese knives.

Carried one for about two years. The edge was terribly ground, and it won't hold an edge. Loads of blade play, and the Arc-lock button rattles in the handle.

I just can't break the thing. I use it to do things that you probably shouldn't do with a knife, like pry open oil cans, pop paint can lids...so on.

I wouldn't buy one even if I saw it for $10; but, mostly because the darn thing just won't quit.
