SOG Tsunami for outdoor work

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tr ying to stay away from the word 'survival' as much as possible, I wondered who here may be able to give me an opinion on how the SOG tsunami (earlier edition) would fair up in an outdoor environment. Tasks including cutting thin branches, vegetation etc. I.e in camping.

Many thanks

When I bought the SOG X42ti-ni, it appeared to me that the SOG line of knives were designed primarily for tactical use. Like with any knife, they could be made to work in the outdoors, but I'd prefer to have a knife made for the duty that I'm going to put it through. In fact, for outdoors use, I would be more inclined to buy a $30.00 Mora 2000 than I would a tactical blade. The Mora is made specifically for the outdoors and easily takes and holds an incredible edge. Plus the blade isn't so long that it can't be used for small detail work as well as the more robust chores.

I would have to go with Longbow on this one. I can think of a few better designs then just about any of the SOG stuff. Don't get me wrong I think SOG makes some good knives. But as Longbow said most of the designs they do are for tactical applications.
