Hello.

I picked up the SOG Twitch II on a whim today. Not to bore you with the details but I was at Lowe's and it was on sale and some one at the office gave me a Lowe's gift card for "secret santa" (lol)..

So, on to the first look review. I'll keep this short and just post positives and negatives and save the rest for a in-depth later.

Positives:
1. Blazingly fast assisted opening
2. Good materials - Aus8 blade and anodized aluminum handle
3. California legal - I live in L.A.
4. Great lock up - no blade play on my sample
5. Deep pocket clip - doesnt scare the sheeple
6. Flipper - flipper nub for opening that doubles as a finger guard when open
7. Safety lock - prevents it from opening in the wrong places
8. Very light - 2.6oz, rides in the pocket very nice, I see this as a great EDC
9. Cheap!! - mine was 34.99 on sale
10. Made in USA - only part of SOGs line up is made in America; this is a positive for some people and a negative for others
11. Factory edge is very very sharp - go SOG!

Negatives:
1. Blade isnt centered when closed - annoying and is close to rubbing the liner, if it wasnt 35 bucks and a EDC beater I would be annoyed
2. Thumb studs are dumb - its hard to get leverage to open from them, they are too close to the handle, and its easy for your finger to slip on the blade because of the way the blade deploys, safer to use the flipper
3. No jimping on spine - there is a thumb depression but jimping would help alot, I think I will file in some with a rat tail file
4. Assisted opening it so fast and sure that it is loud!! I know I can use 2 hands to make it quiet but whats the point then. I know this is a wierd complaint but I live in Los Angeles. I literally had a woman scream in terror once at my miniature Swiss Army knife.. you know the tiny one with the one inch blade, scissors, and a key ring. She snatched up her miniature poodle and ran to her Mercedes from the line in Starbucks.. I was using the tiny scissors to cut a thread off my sweater before work. No kidding...

Overall:
Seems like a great value considering the price and a great EDC that you wont mind using.

I had a Twitch 2 a while back and it was a good utility knife other than the fact its frame was a bit small for me. I liked the size and the manual safety it had.

Just a quick addition:

The blade is a full flat gring, nice to see in a folder, and is thin enough to be a good slicer. I tried it out making dinner and although sharp the edge needed a re-profile so I brought it down on my tri-hone and now it slices like a laser. I actually cut myself and had no idea until I saw a red line on my knuckle an hour later.

I've got one of these i snagged off of steapandcheap for like $20. For the money it's a pretty decent knife. I agree the ao is pretty fast on them. I like to carry this around on days that i don't feel as though i need a pocket sword.

I love my Twitch II!

I got it from Lowes as well, though not on sale ($40). :(

It is my choice for dress up occasions. I think it is a classy enough design to wear with a suit or dress pants w/ nice shirt. But I sometimes rotate it into my EDC lineup. I think it is very well made and possessed a jewel-like precision. Plus, the size doesn't scare non-knife people.

I pretty much concur with you assessment of it.
