We had a get together for 3 days of 30 folks mostly combat Vets. We set up outdoor events like shooting, compound bows, fly fishing, knife throwing and tomahawk throwing:thumbup:

Our group found the knifes almost a waste of time. The SOG tomahawks was 500% better than the Cold Steel tomahawks at throwing for the group as a whole. Come the last day of competition not one of 30 used the Cold Steel tomahawks. Everyone used the SOG version as it just worked.

That sounds like fun! Did you try hitting any moving targets or were they all fixed-static? Sort of like your buddies in the ANA. ;)

Two versions of the 8 hawks in the Cold Steel series were used. The land owner built a static wall of pure 2x4's (4 feet wide x 6 feet tall) and put a painted human frame for more points. The China made throwing knives would not stick by both brands in simple 2x4's 95% of the time. The SOG hawk did well.

I only own the Cold Steel Rifleman Hawk. I am now going to pick up some of the SOG hawks for my young son (age 12) really liked them. It's lighter and smaller folks had an easy time throwing them also. I have never been a SOG fan (and have none), but seeing and experiencing this I will give the SOG hawk a huge advantage in throwing only.
