SOG - why no outside opening tools?

Almost everyone now, even Gerber has outside opening tools. And i'm not talking just about knive blades (e.g. PowerAssist) but also screwdrivers, awls, files, saws, everything. I wish SOG made all outside opening tools. So much more convenient. Is it a case of not trusting their locks enough to design it this way? What do you all think?

I am not sure how a Sog lock would work conveniently with outside opening tools. To use the same lock type, the lock would need to be put on the opposite side, which would require the pliers to be opened to release the lock. So much more convenient, right?

I actually go out of myu way to by inside opening tools, like the Sog Powerlock, because I find them more comfortable than outside opening tools.

I own a SOG, and its built like a bank vault, but it rides in Wifey's glove compartment and never gets any love because of the inside tools.

Same reason I like the LM P4 over the Micra.

When I want access to a blade, I don't want to dilly dally with opening up the whole dang thing, you know?

JMO. :)

I think its just a matter of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Although the SOG's I have handled have been built like tanks with a good fit, and finish is adequate, they just don't do it for me. The tools seem small, and the multi itself is a paragon of the Plier Centric tool. Leatherman does it for me as does vic. I might however be convinced to by a Cross Grip some time in the future.
