Has anyone bought one of these in the last 6months to a year? If so, what are your general impressions of it overall? Also, is it easy to open fairly quickly?
Thanks.

I don't own a X-ray vision but I handled one a few years back at the Blade Expo in Marietta, GA. It's a nice Knife. It has a thick heavy blade, an ergonomic handle and a Arc-lock. I own a SOG PEII which also has an Arc-lock, and that lock is great. It holds the blade in the handle and tightly in the open position, but with a flick of your thumb the blade is free to snap open or closed. Knives equipped with the Arc-lock are as fast any other knife and can be operated one-handed.

It's a good knife - steel lined Zytel handles. 3-3/4 inch blade of ATS-34 steel, Arc-Lock, made in Seki, Japan.
Very solid lockup and a great lock as has already been mentioned.

What I don't like about it is the odd blade shape and the serrations.

I've seen them available for about $65.00 or so and I think it's a good value at that price.

I have one.

I really like the design of the knife, but I'm not a fan of the design of the lock. I had mine for about a week before the lock failed. I hadn't even really used it - I was in the "break-in process" and just kind of playing with it, opening and closing it, to loosen it up a little bit. The arc-loc is held in place by two little wires on either side of the handle. Well, one of the wires snapped and litterally fell out of the lock-hole in the handle. I was like, "Umm, this can't be good."

SOG fixed it up, added a 2nd wire on each side of the arc-loc so now it has 4 total. I like the heft of the knife in the compact package (the handle is not very long) and I really like the blade shape and style, but I rarely carry it after that lock failed on me.

Interesting.

First post I recall reading that describes this sort of issue with the Arc-Lock.
Glad to hear that SOG fixed it up for you (and would expect no less from them; I think they're a good company.)

Was the original you had an early version of the Arc-Lock?

I honestly don't know if it was an early version or not. I bought the knife about two years ago if that is any indication of the version... I just don't know enough about the arc-loc to be able to tell.

That was the second axis-type lock that had failed on me, the first being the Cold Steel Recon 1. Exact same thing happened to me with it. The SOG is great now, no problems from that point on, and SOG was more than eager to fix it for me. They even beefed up the lock by a second wire to each side.
