Was looking online at Folder Pentagon Elite with Arc lock. Currently carry BM with Axis lock. Have owned and carried other SOG including Twitch series and one that reminded me of a Spyderco but none with ARC lock. Liked both. Any owners here and what is your opinion, and how is ARC lock.

I have owned a Pentagon Elite and I now have a Vulcan. The Arc lock works great. No issues with me.

The Arc lock isn't quite as smooth as the axis, and tests have shown it isn't quite as strong, but it is smooth and strong, better than a Ganzo axis. It's a good lock design, gives you different designs with a different but familiar feel.

Had a Pentagon, loved it, no issues with lock whatsoever. The lock worked well for the intended use.

I have both: a SOG Pentagon Elite (the previous model, when they still did them in AUS8 stainless), also a SOG mini x-ray, with the ARC lock. And Benchmade folders including a Mini Rukus with the Axis lock. Both lock types been equally smooth, equally reliable. I love the ease of flipping open and closing both lock types. All in all, the SOG Pentagon Elite is a great large folding pocket carry for self defense, if your local laws allow the nearly 4" blade. It's also quite light despite the size of the knife.

so. The look or lock? Look is like larva. It is why i buy axis.

I have owned a number of SOGs with their ARC lock and have no problems or issues what so ever. People say that it's a near copy of the Benchmade AXIS lock. Don't really know. Both locks are very good from my experience. They both are strong, reliable, and are simple to use.

I've had both, the main difference from memory, the Arc-loc has more of a lever mechanism inside the scales. So there is an additional pivot and the lock actuating stud is attached to that via a bar. Where as the axis lock is just a rod being held in place in the track. So the Arc-lock doesn't rely as much on riding on the liners. But I may be conflating the arc-loc on the pentagon with the arc-loc on the trident, which are slightly different as the trident is a single-sided lock. So I might have that wrong.

The single sided SOG lock is called something different, piston lock maybe? Anyhow I took apart my mini Aegis and it's not at all like the BM or SOG bolt lock.
