Granted, this is used primarily in places like Africa (where the sun actually reaches out and slaps you across the face all day), but in an emergency situation this should be a viable form of procuring potable water. Particularly after natural disaster or something.

Oddly enough, I actually came across this on http://thereifixedit.com and wasn't sure it was legit until I looked it up.
Only downside is the requirement of consistent, direct sunlight. Other than that it's cheap, seems effective, and could be set up quickly and easily.
Thoughts?
