Solar Panel Charger

Does anyone have any info and/or experience with solar panels?
I plan to use a Northern Industrial trickle charger to maintain a deep cycle battery..I would like to learn more about solar chargers so if you have any info/links I would appreciate hearing from you.
 
My only experience is with the small portable all-in-one units for charging a cell phone or ipod. In general I've had poor luck with them. Will be watching this discussion with interest, though - solar panels are finally starting to get to the point where it might make sense to buy them. Even Harbor Freight is selling panels now.
 
If you're looking for portable ones, Brunton and Solio make good ones. I used the Brunton Solar Rolls in the military and they work as advertised and can be linked and used in line. Solio makes backpack friendly chargers that I've used on expeditions but don't work as efficiently as the Brunton's, probably because they're smaller.
