Guys,

I am looking for a Solar Recharger for my iPhone
It runs out very fast indeed
So when I am out for more than a day, I do not have my phone
I want the phone full available for emergancies (two legged type)
I have plenty of sunlight so recharging is not a problem

Any suggestions for light robust portable units?

Also if possible to recharge AAA bateries for my headlight
If not the phone recharge is much more important

Thanks in Advance

I'd opt for an AA powered solution instead of a direct solar powered solution. Get an emergency charger that runs off AA batteries. Something like this.
Verbatim Power bank charger

tekkeon mp1580 tekcharge battery charger

Then have several ways of charging the AA batteries. Charge the AA batteries with a cigarette lighter charger, solar charger, a wall wart, or something else. You can also just buy a set of AA batteries in a pinch. Having a cigarette lighter to usb charger available is also very handy when you are away from home.

I use a Joos Orange Solar charger. I keep it in the window during the day and have more than a full charge available. It is a very rugged piece of gear as well

I always keep my phone off, turn it on when needed, something like an iPhone is a great tool to have because it can do so many things. They sell a flashlight/radio with a USB port, crank/battery powered. You could always charge your phone on that if you're interested I can find the exact one or one similar. Since it's primarily an emergency thing for you and you're not browsing Facebook or trolling bladeforums it would give you enough juice I'm sure to make a phone call or get the gps up.

Used a friend's Coleman solar panel recharger last weekend. It did a fine job. He said it was purchased at Northern Tool, for $60

Agreed 100%. It's a great model, just too small. The 4000mah version with an extra panel or two is fantastic though. :)

Yeah, I may buy the bigger one. This 1500mah one handles cell phones and stuff like that just fine, but I found out I need at least a 2000mah to charge my Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

I found that turning off the extras ( yeah I know why have a smart phone of youre not gunna have the smart stuff turned on .. ) but turning off the auto sync , the gps , skype , yahoo , and all the other goodies that have it constantly doing stuff or trying to do stuff the battery life is actually not bad at all , 3 -4 days is usual for me .
maybe an option to carrying a charger or an as well as to it .

Thanks for the replies to my question
I will check them out

Please any more ideas for solar chargers

Thanks

I bought this one from Amazon. It works very well.

More than that, I would think. Most new phones coming out are getting "bigger" batteries (that are somehow smaller) than ever before. 2000-3000mah is pretty standard for most of what you'd find in a Verizon store today. Tablets like an Ipad have much larger batteries, closer to 10,000mah I think. I would bet the samsung is somewhere in the middle at least...

Yess. That in combination with one of their external batteries would be awesome... Keep the battery charging all day whether you're charging a phone or not.

I have a power traveller power monkey extreme. Charged multiple cell phones daily over a week in the woods. Highly recommend it. Although for daily carry I plug it in with the supplied plug in a couple times a week rather than lugging around the solar panel. Cost me $150.
