1996 First Production Run variation of the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder
This knife for auction is a great knife, the 1996 First Production Run variation of the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder featuring the Liner Lock system. This knife features the Black hardened glass & silicon nylon handle with ATS-34 Stainless Steel and is 5 1/2" closed, 9 7/8" overall. The blade length is 4 3/8" and the blade features an ambidextrous thumb stud for rapid open. The Liner Locking system is stainless steel as well.
This First Production Run edition varies greatly from the regular issue Applegate-Fairbairn model. This model features the "Combat Folder" etching and the Sabre blade and mid blade "half tang" grind (right above the Combat Folder etch). Additionally the rear side of the blade features the First Production Run 1996 and the Gerber U.S.A. etching. The standard model has a flat blade only and of course doesn't feature the First Production Run or the Gerber U.S.A. etches.
The front side of the blade is etched with Combat Folder and the signatures of Col. Rex Applegate and W.E. Fairbairn. The rear side of the blade is etched with "First Production Run 1996" and Gerber U.S.A.
This Gerber 1996 issue Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder is in mint condition with the Applegate Ballistic Cloth Sheath. Sold!
