Sold my first knife

That's a funny knife. What's about this grappling hook thing? Does this have any real-world application or is it just a gimmick to sell the knife for more?

Congratulations on the selling. It's always good to sell old stuff to get new stuff.

BTW, anyone want an old fiberglass bow? :D

take care

Believe it or not, this knife was originally designed by an R&D company named Qual-A-Tec for the U.S. Navy SEALs. While I have heard several interesting sales pitches in sporting goods stores in trying to market them to sportsmen and "survivalists"...such as improvised boat anchor...it was actually designed to be used as an anchor for underwater caches if needs be. This knife was also the basis for the M-9 bayonet which was also originally made by Buck and Phrobis III

Believe it or not, that used to be carried by more than a few Seals back in the day. I still have the one I got when I was in the Marines. That was "the shit" back then! But man was that a heavy brute to carry around, I ended up carrying a smaller cheap Chinese knock-off that lasted 8 years of hard use and cost about 10 bucks. Still have that one too.

Give Mistwalker and Shortwinger cigars ! The history of the Buckmaster.

Was tough for me to sell it. Glad it's going to a board member.

I must have been typing the same time as Mistwalker...

Here is my Buckmaster with the cheap Chinese knockoff I mentioned in my other post right above it. That little knife has done everything and been all over the world and never let me down once.

Interestingly when I got to my first unit I walked into the office and the First Sgt told me to pack my deuce gear we were going to the desert for 4 months. I didn't even know what deuce gear was! I had my Buckmaster with me and then broke the tip on day 1 in the desert... I was &%%^% pissed and it took me a couple days to grind it back to looking normal and reprofile it. It was not used very often after that. Rambo knife my butt................

I never had the Buckmaster, but I had a Gerber BMF, hard to imagine humping either through 29 palms with all the other gear for four weeks.
