I recently purchased a small sebenza 21 and am having some slight problems with the frame lock sticking after opened. The knife is literally a week old and I was wondering if this is a common occurrence. ..

open and close it a lot, eventually it should stop sticking. if it continues to stick, I'd contact Heather at CRK.

Have you tried the Sharpie trick? All you do is use Sharpie permanent marker to "color in" the blade tang where it engages the lock. I got a Bradley Alias I with an extremely sticky frame lock and found that this helped immensely.

The first CRK I had when that happened I thought something was wrong, too. It does that until it's worn in. Don't worry about it.

Write with a pencil or sharpie where the lock and blade tang contact each other. Should help until it breaks in.

If you want to help it along without coloring it black with magic marker, just get a number 2 pencil and "Color" the top of the lock bar.. it will smooth things out and there will be no remenants of black left when it is done being broken in. Both my 21 new luckily do not stick at all. But my large inlaid classic does stick every once and a while, but nothing that a little more force won't take care of.. I'm not some old grandma who doesn't have the power to give it some more pressure :D

I never had an issue with new CRK's sticking. My two older regulars stick slightly but it's not an issue for me. Some people have the lockbar stick so bad it takes two hands to unlock, that's an issue and should be sent back to

Pick up the phone and give them a call. Discuss your concerns with them and they will discuss different options to solve whatever concerns you may have.

I was joking. Actually, I dropped some lubricant in prior to it sticking and now believe I overdid it. When I wipe it down it doesn't stick at all. Think I figured it out :)

Do the pencil trick. Use a number 2 pencil and color in the area where the titanium touches the blade tang. This will make it smooth on contact and continue to open and close the blade until it no longer sticks. Repeat as necessary. Once the sticking stops you can chunk the pencil and ship the knife to me :D
