Hi,

I'm in the process of making a bowie and was wondering what is the best/ user friendly solder out there for soldering 300-series stainless?

I read Eutectic's good and "Stay Clean" flux is recommended.

-But where do you get these?

Also, if you have any other recommendations, ie. better products -it'll be interesting to hear about your experiences with these too.

Thanks!

Hi Flatgrinder, I think you might be thinking of "Stay-Brite" Silver Solder & Flux . I'm pretty sure I got mine from Jantz , the Eutectic paste flux too. My little bottle of Eutectic Flux says ; Castolin or Gastolin Eutectic Paint on Paste Solder/Flux 157PA & comes in 1 oz. btl.

We have a local AIRGAS store and they have a great assortment of welding supplies. I was surprised to find they carried Stay Brite solder and their pricing was better than any place I have seen online. They carry many products that a bladesmith could use like safety glasses, goggles, gloves, wire brushes, etc etc. http://airgas.com/
