Help
I just spent an hour or so trying to solder a bronze guard on a 1084 knife.
Could not get the solder to flow and make a nice filet between guard and blade. I could get it spotty at best.
I have a very close fit. I am using sta-brite solder & flux.

I can't give you any advice, but I've never successfully soldered bronze. Trying to solder bronze was one of the most frustrating knife project I've attempted. I've tried both paste and stick, with no luck. I switched over to JB Weld over a year ago and haven't looked back :). Sorry that's the only help I can offer.

There's many different types of bronze. I'm thinking you may have aluminum bronze and if thats the case good luck.......

From Audel's 'Welders Guide' - Cu-Sn, Cu-Zn, Cu-Ni alloys can be soldered with relative ease. However those containing Si, Cr, Al, Be present various degrees of difficulty . Some of these also require special fluxes. So which one do you have ??
