What are the different solders and their required fluxes for....say ...nickel silver, silver, brass and steel. Can you solder brass to steel, nickel silver to steel, silver to steel? Thanks.

Soft solder for stainless steel requires a flux designed especially for stainless ,use a 95tin /5silver solder [400 F].You can solder different metals together and thse solders can be used without damaging the heat treatment of a blade.....Hard solder, properly called braze, melts at 800 F or more. Brazing alloys are chosen for temperature, metals to be brazed, color.
