Soliciting opinions on Sinn EZM2. I know a few of you guys have em out there. So what do you think. Likes and dislikes, let me have'em.

I´ve compared the EZM1, EZM2 and EZM3 (I believe it was). If you are looking for a budget version of the EZM1 you should know that the EZM2 is thinner and has a totally different look. If you have the catalog you probably have noticed that it´s hard to see how thick they are when the watches are pictured from the front.

I haven´t owned any of these so I can´t say anything about how functional they are.

The EZM-2 is a good looking, accurate, well made, relatively care free (in the sense that it's quartz)variant of the EZM-1. It's also significantly cheaper and isn't really a substitute for the "1".

It's a tough watch that would serve a person well, with the downside being that due to the silicon oil filling, changing the battery(it's got a 7 year lifespan) would require a trip to the factory or possibly to a factory-certified technician to get the oil recharged. I've read that you can do the battery change, lose the oil, and it'll still work fine.(don't know this to be true, though)

You might try the Sinn forum at watchuseek.com (I think) for more details or opinions. It's got a place at the top of the quartz watch pyramid, IMO.

Thanks Guys.

The EZM2 specs are pretty impressive. I like the looks too. Just wanted to get some feedback from folks who have been wearing them for a while.

What is the best place to buy one online? With regard to price, service, etc.

You could try Bladeart or TADGEAR - both are now doing SINN watches.

Thanks! Nice to see "the original Sinn" ;) so well represented in North America now.

I didn't want the Bell & Ross version so my first three Sinns were purchased from a fellow member of a watch forum I used to belong to on Compuserve - he lived right next door to the Sinn factory in Stuttgart (?) and purchased the watches for me from the factory retail outlet. Even with shipping, insurance, cost of bank drafts, and customs duties, I remember my final cost for each watch was MUCH less than if I had bought the B&R versions.

I now only have the original "Space One" left (NIB!) and it might be time to have a look at a few of the new ones.

Sundsvall,
I concur with the general consensus presented here so far. The watch is well made and its accuracy is very good, as can be expected from most modern quartz movements these days. The metal bracelet, in particular, is very well constructed. Another advantage of the silicon oil filled case, in addition to giving the watch a water resistance rating of greater than 5000 meters, is that it also makes the dial legible from extreme viewing angles.

The only down side to this watch has been already mentioned; heretofore, a simple battery replacement meant a trip back to the factory in Germany (a somewhat cumbersome process). Perhaps with the recent addition of some U.S. dealers such as War Birds this situation will change for the better.

FWIW, I don't believe the EZM-2s being currently imported feature the tritium illumination that was standard on the original GSG versions of the watch.

Hi Bronco,

From what I read in the specs at broadarrow.net, the EZM2 is the GSG watch.

The american version is the Bell & Ross Hydromax.

However, I didn't notice any reference to the illumination.

I have been tracking the EZM2 on Ebay and Timezone, but am still considering the watch.

www.wartimers.com is the only authorized us outlet ... no discounts

www.bladeart.com has also imported some ... they are not authorized dealers but their prices are much better

i like sinn....however my feeling is that if you are going to spend that much on a watch ....why not get an automatic (ezm-1, 3) instead of quartz (ezm-2) .... mechanical watches are much more interesting to me

Thanks for the links Bandaid. However, they were posted already above.

I was considering the EZM2 because it can be had used for about $500. The EZM1 and EZM3 are about double that amount.

SundsVall,
You want to post this over at Broadarrow.net
They're all about military watches there.

THere's no "singing up process" there you just show up and post...

we have mutual friends... "Lowlife" at Iceberg... we should talk...

Hey Mutt,

That's no surprise. Iceberg is in your backyard. I have been BSing with lowlife for years.

I was hoping that the people that I meet and get together with online would be girls. :p

yes, you can meet girls online, but they tend to take up two subway seats.

You mean lying down? Thems little children! Bad Mutt! Stick to the highschool girls.:D

Okay, this was a watch thread remember?;)

If you keep an eye on Ebay, and are patient, you may very well find a NIB EZM3 for about $750, i have seen several go for that price over the last year or 2. I have even seen EZM1's sell for only $1,000 on Ebay, you just have to be patient. The EZM3 is a MUCH better watch than the EZM2. I owned both, and IMO, the EZM2 is more of a gimmick watch, the EZM3 is the real deal. I actually prefer the EZM3 to the EZM1.
