Hi- A customer brought in an old knife made of 18K gold (two jewelers said so!). It starts as vines and flowers in the handle then turns into a dragon at the blade. How can I find out what its worth and where it came from. I can email out a pic, or will post one if someone can tell me how! I'm a gun guy, not a knife expert- please give me a hand. Thanks- Chad

Here's a pic of the knife in question. I'll give ya $25 for it.

Chad - I also posted this in Bernard Levines's forum as well. He's the resident expert on these kinda things. Click here to see that post.

Good luck. That's a unique work of art you have there.

I wish it were mine to sell! Thanks for posting the pic for me. I'll pass along the offers to the owner (lets see, 8oz of 18k gold.... vs $30 hmmm...grin)

Hey there Lacon, in the early 60's at an estate sale in Washburn of an old lawyer named Ireland, a similiar knife was sold at auction. I was very young but I still remember it, When it was sold it was referred to as a "golden Chinese desk knife".
Since it was in your area it might even be the same knife come to surface again almost 40 years later.

Is it Chinese or Taiwanese?
