I left after work on a Friday and drove North to the goat mountains. Got to the trail head at 11:30 PM and slept in the hatch-back for the night.

Hiked up Sat am as the fog rolled in. I hiked around the cliffs (in the fog, rain and sleet) for a couple hours but visibility was 50 to 70 yards. Set up the tent at 1pm and spent the rest of the day in it.

Woke up in the middle of the night and all the stars were out - yea it cleared off!

Coffee and oatmeal in the pre-dawn:

I was packed up and started hiking at daylight. Wasn't long and I walked up on these two. Pic was with my phone and looking into the sun.

I wasn't totally solo as I had my pal Ali with me:

I saw some beauty country and had a great trip. I put on 15km on Sunday, but didn't have enough time to track down any billies, maybe next time!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Beautiful country Thanks for sharing. Man and his best friend out in the wild, what's not to like.

Solo? You had your dog with you. A dog is more company than most people I know.

Great pics thanks for sharing.

What a great trip that must have been. Having a good friend to share it with made it darned near perfect in my eyes. Now, how to get the billies in close...

I always enjoy your pics from up there! My dad and I have been talking about saving up for a trip to Idaho for hunting elk, since we now have zero points in any of the local draws and will be starting over. Someday I'd love to get up to the Canadian Rockies for a hunt.
