I decided to relocate the little guy off the road so I took him down off the hill & turned him loose in the deep part of the creek out in front of my house where he will have plenty of cover & a lot of minnows & crawdads to eat !

Nice Ruger!

I need to take a camera into nature more often, but I'm lazy.

Thanks for the pictures and the reminder that I should really learn more about my local plants.

I think you have some Turtleman in you the way you handled that little snapper. Oh, right, same state... :)

Nice to take a walk in the woods. I see you weren't too disturbed by the potential for a black bear encounter. Looks like the kind of stuff I take along unless I just feel like packing something bigger for the fun of it.

Useful knives. No Condor Golok today.

On Sunday, a car stopped in front of my house and a young boy (probably 10ish) gets out and apparently needed to get a cooler out of the back. Noticed a big old knife on his belt. I just smiled. Looked like they were headed for a woods adventure.

Thanks....No Golok today & no worries with a bear, we have a lot more in the area now but I'm not to worried about'em. & yeah...us Kentucky Hillbilly's ain't scared of critters  Unless it has 8 legs !

good stuff, man! i had no idea snapping turtles have those pointy part on one end of their shell...makes me wonder how people are catching them under water on tv - while feeling for the spiked end it could very well be the beak and you're a second away from losing fingers, haha.

I have the blued version of the Mark II but essentially same as yours. I bought it when I put my High Standard Victor into retirement. But it came back out to get some exercise.

I love my MKII, it goes with me every time I hit the hills. The MKII Target model is very accurate & I have been able to shoot very well with it !

Nice trophy photo! Well done.

That is my No. 1 most recommended semi-auto 22 pistol. I actually bought mine a couple counties over from you. Have a hanker-in for a stainless Ruger 45/22 with the heavy barrel. Used to carry my Victor with me in the woods. It is mostly a target gun/plinking gun now even though I have a great Bianchi leather holster for it. Try to find one of those holsters matched for the gun these days.
