It's been mentioned that the parcel hook can be very hard to open on models where it's located right next to the key ring. Here's a solution.
A few SAK models include a straight pin, but that's not as useful as a safety pin. Clip a safety pin to the key ring. Don't work it through the ring split, just close it around the ring. The spring end of the safety pin (the loop) makes a perfect tool for prying up the parcel hook without even removing it from the key ring. Now you've also added a useful tool to your knife. The pin hangs out of the way and is unlikely to open in your pocket.
