We’ve just returned from the Solvang Knife Show put on by Dave and Grace Harvey of Nordic Knives. It was a great show as usual and it marked the 20th year of the Show. I would like to thank both Dave and his wife Grace for making this a special show every year and I look forward to the next 20 years.

There were several suspects at the show and many familiar faces along with several new faces in the crowd this year. I would like to thank everyone who was at the Emerson table over the weekend and congratulate those who picked up some customs for their collection.

Solvang is one of those shows where the lottery chances are very good. It is a smaller scale show and the odds are much better than some of the larger shows.

There was only one glitch, however and it is certainly worth noting. One guy, he’s been around (not a newbie) stuffed the lottery box with 16 cards. He was actually the very first one drawn and immediately left after being drawn. My daughter and my friend Sean Coulter were doing the drawing and his name was actually drawn 9 times during the lottery.

He will not be allowed to participate in our lottery ever again. He actually came back later to “chat with us.” Let’s just say my wife Mary took care of the situation and I didn’t even get to participate. Actually I couldn’t participate – she elbowed me in the ribs as she flew by. She made it very clear – Loud and Clear – that he had done a bad thing. I just stood and watched.

We actually had about a half dozen people come up later and tell us that it was worth coming to Solvang just seeing my wife take care of this guy.

I’m sure you’ll hear more details through the grapevine.

It was a good show, a good lottery and a good time.
