Alright guys i already maid a thread about how my Sebenza don't have the v stamp on the blade but another thing is that there is 2 little dents where detent ball rides on blade. And you can feel it catch when you move the blade with your fingers only but it bugs the shit out of me knowing its there and my other Sebenzas don't have it.. So i sent it in to CRK and then they emailed me saying exactly this The blade steel is S35VN however this blade must have come though in a batch that did not get stamped.
We are not able to repair the dents in the ball track - once material is removed we cannot replace it. Most likely the blade was dropped and the ball gouged those marks into the blade track when the knife struck the ground.

I got the knife on here BF and i texted the owner and asked him if he is the OG owner and he said yeah then asked him if he has dropped the knife and he said no plus it seems impossible of the knife to be dropped and make 2 little dents with the blade open plus there isn't any dents on the handles or any chips on the blade.. So what do you guys think they should do? thanks BTW not trying to bash CRK i love there products and are really nice on the phone!

I dropped my Seb from 3 feet onto my hardwood floor and when I picked it up there was a tiny catch right after the detent. When I took the slabs apart I noticed a tiny dent along the detent ball track that was causing it...I have just continued using it as-is and it's still there, albeit slightly less noticeable after thousands of openings. I don't feel like sending it back to CRK for 7 weeks! All I'm saying is that it is possible to dent the blade in the ball detent, though I'm not sure exactly how.

edit: I made a thread about this very same thing somewhere on here and posted pictures. Everyone told me to send it back to CRK, but it's my only CRK knife and I don't want to have to wait another 2 months to get it back! My prerogative though.

ok but did it have one dent or 2? thanks for the response.

Looks like just one dent. But one dent is still enough for most people to say "that's impossible". Kinda frustrating, but it's still possible IMO cause I've lived it! Since you're not the original owner you may have to pay, but I'd send it back to CRK, they can fix it in guessing.

Oh I didn't read that part. That sucks! Not really sure what to say though, you would have to pay for a new blade I'm guessing. I'm just going to venture a guess that the owner DID at some point, or multiple points, drop the knife. The titanium is very sturdy and doesn't show dents or dings easily even when dropped on hard surfaces. I accidentally dropped mine on concrete for instance, from about 4 feet up, and it didn't have a single mark. I used the butt of it to open many beer bottles and while the surface is shinier in that spot, there is no dent or ding of any kind. The S35VN blade is softer than the ceramic and the titanium I believe, so it's possible. Also, the knife may have been sent back to CRK before and had the scales brought back to new again so even if it did have imperfections they were buffed out or something. Just a thought.

edit: is the blade perfectly centered?

yeah the blade it perfectly centered. i just saw your old thread about when you dropped yours and my dents aren't close to the detent hole like yours its almost in the middle.

Can that be polished smooth by someone other than CRK?
'Might not take much polishing, as even the slightest imperfection can be felt when two materials move past each other like that.

I guess you'll have to just sell it to me really cheap since it's all broken and stuff. [emoji12]

Seriously though - so their take is it was user induced damage and they aren't going to replace the blade? I mean does it have any effect on function or is it just aesthetic and it bugs you?

Yeah idk but when i first got the knife i could feel it catch more but now its barely noticeable so i guess its wearing in and those little dents are wearing out so its all good just wondering if it was form a drop or not but now i know it was from a drop 100%.

Nope after use you can barely feel it only when moving the blade with your fingers plus it has to be at a certain speed to feel it lol so yeah its all good.

Good. Whenever you decide it bugs you enough and you want to unload it at a discount without having to post a bunch of disclaimers PM me.
